This asks you to setup an AVG account… NOPE!!
As a long time user of CleanMyMac 2, I finally got fed up with the program causing some of my icons to disappear. Not sure if it was some sort of cache file getting deleted, but it required me to reboot my MBP a few times to get things back in order. Totally unacceptable to me, since CleanMyMac 2 periodically nags you to run it. Anyway, I saw Disk Doctor for $2.99 and some of the reviewers complained how that program nags you to share your experience on Facebook/Twitter and I wanted no part of that. So, I decided to give AVG Cleaner a try. While the program is free, one of the first things you are asked to do is to create an “AVG MyAccount” or enter an “Invitation Code”. Whaaaat?! Why do I have to have a login password for a disk utility program? I mean, how many passwords do they expect me to remember?
I was considering uninstalling this program, because of the AVG account, but you can skip it. On my 500GB SSD, AVG Cleaner took less than 10 seconds to display over 41GB of junk to delete (39GB in Trashcan). I guess I’ll try this for awhile, but it gets three stars for the AVG account screen.
